You Google people and people Google you.  Personal websites are great for building and managing your online brand and credibility.  By making your own website, you’ll be sharing your unique experiences and strengths with the world.  Sure, LinkedIn can accomplish some of these goals, but a personal website is much more dynamic, personalized, and ultimately, more impressive.

Why do I want a personal website?

  1. Share your unique experiences and expertise, build your personal brand, and manage your online presence.
  2. Job searching? Sharing your expertise on a personal website helps you stand out from the crowd.  Recruiters love seeing professional and unique personal websites.

Workshop Objective:

At the end of the session, you will have a personal website, published to the internet, and will have the knowledge of how to add and improve your website going forward!

Prep Work:

  • Purchase a domain before the session.  We’ll share step-by-step instructions on how to do that.

Costs:

  • Workshop fee – $30 – of which 100% goes to support Hopeworks!
  • Purchasing a domain costs about $15/yr.
  • Hosting the personal website costs another $40/yr if you have no coding experience.  If you have some HTML/CSS skill (or want to learn), you can host it free through GitHub Pages.
