Hopeworks' Alumni Adria Boultin and Sekinah Brodie Speak at Philly Tech Week!

We are so proud of Hopeworks’ alumni, Sekinah Brodie and Adria Boultin who spoke on Philly Tech Week’s “Equity in Tech” panel! Both young women are working full-time right here in Camden, as well as pursuing their own projects as entrepreneurs. Philly Tech Week is such a great opportunity for our alum to network and market themselves as the professionals they have become; and as black women in the tech industry, Sekinah and Adria were extremely important voices on this panel. When asked about how she reacts to being a minority in the tech field, Sekinah said, “I prepare by reminding myself that I may be the only one who looks like me, but my voice is important.”

Sekinah works at Penji in Camden as their Marketing Assistant and Adria works at the Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers as their Program Assistant for Strategy and Information. Sekinah’s business “That Lookz Dope” offers freelance web and graphic design as well as content creation; and Adria started a nonprofit called “Black Girls Slay” with the mission of supporting Black women who dream of becoming entrepreneurs. Adria said that Hopeworks “provided an open door, when every other door she walked through was closed.” We’re sure that “Black Girls Slay” will serve as an open door to many motivated women just like her.
