Camden Coalition Professionalism Workshop

This week Hopeworks youth had the opportunity to meet at Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers for a few hours to learn about the importance of a professional resume and professionalism in the workplace, and they had professional headshots taken for their LinkedIn profiles. Professional attire and demeanor are very important in earning employment, and our youth really appreciate the chance to learn more about interview and resume skills, as many will be job-searching very soon! At this event, youth were practicing their networking skills together, and receiving professional advice. They received wardrobe tips and a list of helpful resume and cover letter suggestions to take home with them.

We are so grateful to have this partnership with the Camden Coalition. Several of our youth have had internships with them and many have been hired for full and part-time permanent positions. As a matter of fact, it was two Hopeworks alumni currently on staff at Camden Coalition who arranged for this opportunity! They are now in a position to give-back to Hopeworks and their community.

It’s so important that Camden-based nonprofits partner with each other when we can. Together we are working to better the lives of community members, and strengthen the city of Camden. It is partnerships like these and professional events like this that will help change the negative conversation that so often surrounds Camden youth to a positive one.
