Jared first learned about Hopeworks from a friend who had completed the training and had been an intern in our Web Department. When he found out that he could come to Hopeworks and get an internship in web or design that would generate a stable income, Jared was very interested in trying it out!
Jared was born and raised here in Camden, and has always been interested in graphic design. Having had the experience of designing a yearbook for a nonprofit called ‘Kids Alley’ in the past, he was a perfect fit for our communications team. He is now a design intern with us and will be creating both print and digital designs for our social media, newsletters, and all marketing and event materials. This internship is an integral part of our communications team, as interns hold all the design expertise in the department. It is a great opportunity for him to build his design portfolio.
Jared enjoys designing cover art and doing photos edits on his own and when asked about his dream career, Jared says, “I want to be able to create interesting content and designs that people haven’t seen or thought of before. I can see myself creating my own design business.”
Jared says Hopeworks is different than any other job or internship he’s had before: “Everything is very personalized here, and there are so many opportunities. The community of Hopeworks is such a great support system; everyone genuinely wants to see you succeed.” When asked what he would say to someone considering coming to Hopeworks, he says, “Although it may be intimidating at first, taking that first step by starting the training could change your entire life.”
