Center for Family Services Internet Essentials Collab

In collaboration with Center for Family Services and Comcast Internet Essentials, Hopeworks was able to host a basic internet training program for community members at its facility. Annette Johnson, a Hopeworks youth, led the 2-week training. Annette was able to teach various modules such as typing, resume creation, internet safety, and job application submission. Her favorite part of the training was receiving feedback from the participants and observing the moment when they were finally able to understand something. She says “In addition to it being a great resume builder, this experience will prepare me for the future because it teaches a lot about patience and it’ll give me an opportunity to grow not only as a person but as a professional.” Out of this opportunity, Annette was able to strengthen her communication and public speaking skills and was compensated for the training. In the future, she hopes that she is able to use her public speaking skills for her passions, which are poetry and giving presentations.
