Kayla Evans Lands Her Dream Job

Kayla Evans has “wanted to be in the technical field since Middle School,” she says. With time and effort, she powered through, and made that dream come true. Camden County recently hired her to join its five-member Help Desk Support Team in its Information Technology department.

Kayla is proud of her accomplishment. “I achieved what I have been trying to get out of life,” she says. “I want to stay in IT and continue to progress.” She said she was able to realize her dream because she stayed focused on what she wanted, and what she needed to do to “gain it for myself.”

After completing the Hopeworks training, Kayla served Hopeworks as a training room intern and also served as a Google IT Instructor Intern. (She has six Google IT certifications herself.)  In that role, she supported the trainees by providing coding instructions and offering presentations on Javascript, HTML, and WordPress. She made it her goal to help trainees develop more expertise with each.

“Kayla Evans’ journey is truly one of success. It entails both highs and lows, but through it all, she never lost sight of her dreams,” says Lawrence Burden, Assistant Direct of Career Readiness and a past career coach for Kayla. “I am confident that Kayla will go on to do and achieve amazing things in life. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of her journey.”
