Camden’s Fall 2017 Hackathon Brings More Code to Camden!

Continuing the tradition of Hopeworks Fall Camden Code Days, youth and volunteers from across the region gathered on the Campus of Rutgers Camden on October 28th to learn about Code and technology.

Thanks to the work of volunteers from Subaru, Starbucks, mobiWebcom, Techgirlz, and many others, youth learned not only about the how of coding and technology, but also the why.  Technical sessions included everything from beginners courses with Scratch to opensource and API technology, UX and UI design, and front end development.  Just code, however, wasn’t enough.  Sessions also included how to climb the career ladder in tech, critical thinking and problem solving, and how to Dream and Win Big in your career!

Jeff Clem, CEO of mobiWebcom, keynoted the day with a description of how he built his company from a dream to an inspiration, telling participants to always believe in themselves first.

Thanks to the ingenuity of Camden’s youth, the hard work of dozens of volunteers, and the sponsorship of Comcast, as well as the support of Subaru of America, Starbucks, Rutgers-Camden, Techgirlz, and Mobiwebcom, the day was an amazing event.

Look for Camden’s Spring Hackathon, coming up in April of 2018!
