Hopeworks and UrbanPromise Partnership Expands Hope

A critical part of Hopeworks’ success in preparing young people for sustainable jobs is providing internship opportunities for youth upon completion of training.  Hopeworks’ businesses offer excellent hands-on experience for interns.  But as our programs grow and the number of youth we serve continues to increase, externship partners become more and more in demand!  One of our recent partners in the community is UrbanPromise, who hired Yanlexis Arizaga as a Technology Instructor for H.S. students.

Since 1988 UrbanPromise has equipped Camden's children and young adults with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, spiritual growth, and Christian leadership. The organization strives to fulfill this mission through after-school programs, summer camps, two schools, experiential learning, job training, and a host of other programs that challenge youth to develop and realize their potential

In hiring a well-trained Hopeworks youth, UrbanPromise has been able to fill a need in a cost effective way while extending their mission beyond their doors, and has helped Hopeworks to do the same! In addition to being trained and prepared to work in a professional capacity, Hopeworks interns and partners are both continuously supported by our Master Coach, Jay Jackson to ensure a mutually productive experience.

“Yanlexis has done a superb job so far and has really done a great job of teaching our students the importance of technology and also how to use technology as a resource to learn. We are happy to have her working with us!” ~ Andy Joshua (Head of Schools).

Hopeworks externship partners span many sectors: healthcare, nonprofits, corporations, and schools.
