Charlene Newbill, former Youth Healing Team (YHT) intern and CRIB resident, has been hired as the part-time Youth Healing Team Lead! Her role will be to oversee the Youth Healing Team and collaborate with the interns, as well as work with Kate Daugherty, Healing 10 Convener at Hopeworks. As a former Youth Healing team intern, Charlene has first hand of experience with Hopeworks and can bring an important perspective to the team: “I love working with youth, especially in this field because it gives me the opportunity to better understand how they deal with their traumatic experiences, and how they have overcome them.”
The Youth Healing Team are experts on the effects trauma can have on the brain, and how trauma can affect everyday life. The YHT gives trauma trainings to professionals who want to learn more about trauma. Because of their success and growth, there is an increased demand for trauma trainings and Charlene will play an important role as YHT lead. When asked about her new role, Charlene says, “I am definitely looking forward to working with the Youth Healing Team. I am looking forward to not only helping the youth develop their public speaking & presentation skills, but to also see how they use this information in their everyday lives.”
