Hopeworks is excited to welcome two new team members, Skye Horbrook and Lee Carson, to the Hopeworks team, adding resources as we grow!
Skye Horbrook takes on the role of Lead Trainer, overseeing our growing training room and making sure that Hopeworks youth are developing both the technical and professional skills to succeed in today’s challenging workplace. With a degree in Computer Science, Skye has not only worked as a freelance web developer, but also has extensive experience leading and building teams across the country in her work with FEMA, the Red Cross, and AmeriCorps, preparing for and responding to disasters. Now, Skye not only leads Hopeworks training efforts, but is also well known in Philadelphia’s tech community, working as a Fellow at The Item (The Inclusive Technology + Entrepreneurship Movement), making sure everyone can participate in the regions’ emerging tech sector.
Lee Carson joins Hopeworks as our part time Youth Development Coach, leading our efforts to help youth in the Medical Assistant Training high school program transition successfully into high demand training and careers right here in Camden! Lee is a licensed social worker who has conducted numerous trainings on topics including cultural competence in general, but also specifically with LGBT populations; burnout, vicarious trauma and self care; healthy professional boundaries; motivational interviewing and a number of other topics relevant to the work of human service organizations. He has 8 years of experience teaching in higher education, both at Temple University where he teaches graduate level social work students and at the Community College of Philadelphia in the Behavioral Health and Human Services program.
As Hopeworks grows into our new space, we are lucky to have both Skye and Lee on our team leading our efforts to help young people transform their lives!
