Camden has a solution to help solve a long standing problem – truancy among high school students. Thanks to a new $250,000 program, 50 additional students will train and work right here at Hopeworks!
Hopeworks Trainees Aunistee Wright and Dian Pagan were featured in the interview, detailing the soft skills and life experience they have gained here. Amongst other things, Dian has improved her communication skills and Aunistee has picked up the ins and outs of working in a professional environment.
“We learn a lot about professionalism here. In the past I was nervous about talking to people and talking in front of people, but I’ve been able to develop social skills.”
Dian spoke more in detail about the mental health resources and support available for each young adult who comes through the door.
”We all carry an invisible backpack of trauma with problems that we go through, so Hopeworks provides help for mental health support if you need it.”
