Hopeworks Appoints Accomplished Leader Pecola King as Director of Revenue Cycle Management

Leveraging over 18 years of dedicated experience, King brings unparalleled expertise to elevate Hopeworks' mission to new heights

Camden, NJ – August 21, 2024 – Hopeworks, a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to empowering young adults to establish living wage careers, is proud to announce the appointment of Pecola King as its new Director of Revenue Cycle Management. An accomplished leader in revenue cycle management, King brings a wealth of experience in billing, collections, denials management, and process automation, and a proven track record of exceptional achievements to Hopeworks.

King joins Hopeworks with over 18 years of experience, most recently serving as the director of revenue cycle at Partners Pharmacy in Springfield, NJ, where she spearheaded initiatives that led to a staggering 101% increase in cash collections within just six months and a 65% reduction in backlog within the first quarter. Her role encompassed managing billing operations across multiple states, overseeing significant revenue streams, and deploying advanced technological solutions to enhance process accuracy and efficiency – skills that will be instrumental in advancing Hopeworks’ goals.

“I am thrilled to embark on this exciting journey with Hopeworks,” said King. “The organization’s steadfast dedication to creating meaningful difference in the Camden and Philadelphia communities deeply resonates with me. I look forward to leveraging my extensive experience to contribute to Hopeworks’ continued success and support its mission of transforming young lives through innovative career development opportunities.”

Prior to her tenure at Partners Pharmacy, King excelled as the Revenue Cycle Manager at Golden Living in Fort Smith, AR, where she managed billing and collections across 70 facilities, navigating complex financial landscapes with strategic initiatives that markedly improved revenue performance and operational integration. King received her Associates in applied science from ECPI Technical College (Richmond, VA) and her Bachelor of Science, business administration from Strayer University (Richmond, VA).

“PK (Pecola King) is incredibly personable and has been immensely helpful,” said Samaya Dallas, an intern at Hopeworks. “I feel confident confiding in her about anything, knowing she will find a way to assist or offer advice. PK fits right in at Hopeworks and excels in connecting with us young adults in the program. I'm eager to see what more she brings to the table, as I know she has a wealth of knowledge, experience, and insights to share with us.”

Revenue cycle management is Hopeworks’ newest enterprise that will join Hopeworks’ existing businesses, including geographic information systems (GIS), web design, and trauma-informed counseling services. Revenue cycle management is a critical piece of medical coding and refers to the financial process that healthcare facilities use to manage the administrative and clinical functions associated with claims processing, payment, and revenue generation. It encompasses all the steps taken by healthcare providers to ensure they receive payment for services rendered to patients.
