Cooper By Far Is City's Largest Employer, Puts to Work the Most Camden Residents

City of Camden's Mandatory Semi-Annual Employment Reports Show Totals, Camden Residents at Work

CAMDEN – Cooper University Health Care, which has started a $3-billion expansion in Camden, in the first six months of this year was overwhelmingly the largest employer in the city with a staff larger than the next five largest employers combined, according to a job census.

Cooper employed 10,220 in the city, and 920 or 9% of that total were Camden residents, according to the nonprofit's recent report to the city for employment from January through June.

That also makes Cooper the employer of the largest number of Camden residents. Second place went to the Camden City School District, which employed 334 city residents or 23% of its total city employment.
